I love it when a new mix just pops out on its own, like this one…

I sat down to fool around with a few house and techouse tracks a few days ago, and everything just fell into place.

The title refers to the overall very deep vibe of this mix and to the fact that the tracks on this mix are all little pearls in their genre.

The older listeners will undoubtedly appreciate certain very old school-sounding tracks sprinkled here and there throughout the mix.

People who know me know I don’t bullshit, so I want to say this: the first two mixes are not quite up to par, but I must say that I had to work with a track that’s either voluntarily wild pitched or simple not tight.

Otherwise, I think this monster-mix (2h40m43s) is quite spot-on!

I recorded my last set in my fourth — and as it turned out, last — year as a resident at Montreal’s nicest terrasse, and I think it’s a nice farewell mix with tracks that encompass everything I’ve played there over the years.

A couple of the mixes are not top notch, but those things can happen to the best of them when playing live and talking to guests at the same time!

So… Tech House is all the rage, huh?

There’s not a genre I haven’t spun or can’t spin, always with me very own unique touch, cuz I hate doing things just like everybody else.

So that’s what I set out to do with this mix.

But, really, I also dig this genre, or at least I did when I recorded this mix.

Since then, it has started going in circles, in my opinion, much like a snake eating its own tail.

Some FX and signature sounds (like those sweeps of white noise every few bars) have become so cliché and widespread among the established, as well as up-and-coming, producers that it seems no one is doing Tech House because they genuinely like it anymore, but rather because that’s where the money is at the moment.

Oh, well…

Hope you enjoy this mix, I think it is a very good portrait of that scene, at that time and, maybe, even since, plus it’s technically quite accomplished, if I may say so myself
